Disney Extra Credit - Fall 2013 - (Page 50)

spotlight on The Disney Honors T he Disney Honors is a non-competitive opportunity for middle and high school choirs, bands and orchestras to be inspired and achieve musical excellence. This Walt Disney World® Resort event features performances, clinics, guest speakers and professional feedback from an outstanding panel of evaluators. Evaluators are selected for their commitment to music education, passion for sharing their craft, ability to engage students and directors during the clinics, and for having attained a level of notoriety and recognition within the music education community. The evaluators say the benefits students gain from attending an adjudicated event that is non-competitive are numerous. “The educational value of [The Disney Honors] is phenomenal because these students get a chance to hear adjudicated comments. More importantly, they get to go in and have a one-on-one clinic and hone in on one or two things that they can take back and apply to all different kinds of music.” – Dr. Lynn Brinckmeyer, Associate Professor of Music & Director of Choral Music Education at Texas State University 50 | N extra credit
